Another nail-biter…

Filed under: Uncategorized — stevemryan @ 12:05 am

The suspenseful hope for a no-hitter was dashed early.  The visiting team opened the game with a hit and the home team knocked a hit in the bottom of the inning.  Scoring on the other hand was very suspenseful.  The home team scored on a sac fly in the bottom of the eighth to win a 1-0 squeaker.  It was a good -game with several stolen bases and even a runner gunned down at the plate.  The 1915 St Louis Cardinals win the opener of the best-of-three over Baltimore of the 1914 Federal League.

On another note one of my best friends celebrated his 50th birthday today.  We went out to Red Lobster with my parents as well as a neighbor from across the street.  The lunch was fantastic and we had a good time talking and enjoying each other’s company.  This is the guy who I have on speed-dial and also have told my wife to keep on speed-dial also in case of emergency.  This is probably the most reliable friend I have ever had for the longest period of time and aside from my parents I would say he is more reliable than the rest of my family.

I also really enjoyed the excellent dinner my wife cooked.  The fish was great and the green beans were OK, which is probably my highest compliment for a veggie.  The baked potato was mouth-watering and the fruit smoothie was very good too.  This diet is working because she keeps thing fresh by looking for new and interesting course selections.

This is a picture from this past March and I will try to post a picture soon to show how Diane has grown.  Jody and Cookie are doing well and Cookie seems to be warming up to me a bit when I go out to feed them.  Jody is very affectionate, but Cookie is a tad more suspicious of us.  She did let us pet her some when she had her surgery, but that bonding was forgotten as soon as she recovered.  More likely the anesthesia wore off and she has a fresh memory of us taking her to the vet.

The job has been going well and I am actually looking forward to the next four nights of work.  That will be followed by six off days, work for one day, then three days off for the Convention.  I then have four days on call after which we go to the Chipper Jones Number Retirement Ceremony.  Not sure if we will be going to Cincinnati to see King Felix pitch or not.  We hate to leave our animals for that long, but we shall see.

Life is good and I am looking forward to the next month or so to see how things work out.

There's a fine line between visionary and wrong. Unfortunately, it takes a visionary to see it.
