More Games…

Filed under: Uncategorized — stevemryan @ 4:05 am

Tonight I played a couple of games with the cards that came with my new APBA Game.  The included teams are from the 2012 Season, the Giants, Tigers, Nationals and Angels.  I seeded them from World Series Champion down to the team that didn’t make the playoffs.

My first game was the Angels hosting the Giants.  World Series hero Pablo Sandoval hit a grand slam early to end any suspense.  Jared Weaver surrendered the blast and when he allowed five earned runs, for the automatic grade reduction, I pulled him for Scott Downs.  An inning later I brought in CJ Wilson as a long reliever and he finished the game for the Halos.  Giants advance to the finals.

The second game featured the Nationals hosting the Tigers.  Verlander went the distance, but Adam Laroche hit an early 2-run HR and the Nats never trailed.  Zimmerman went the distance for Washington and pitched well.  The Nationals will host the Giants in the finals.

I love short and even long tournaments.  I may play one with all 30 teams from the 2012 Season using a round robin format, 5 teams in six pools.  Each team will play each other team in their pool once with the winner and two wild cards making a single elimination final.  My tie breaker will be run differential if head-to-head doesn’t break the first tie.  Beyond that I would probably pick something like runs scored or maybe errors, but something fairly random like that.

This is a great game and life is good!

There's a fine line between visionary and wrong. Unfortunately, it takes a visionary to see it.
